Using Control Panel to Backup Your Website
When talking about a website, that means we are mentioning about a whole process of being a webmaster. As the administrator, you have to become responsible for your own website because you won’t only need to create the site, you need to develop it. However, the world keeps rolling and sometimes there are various threats that might disturb your system. If you don’t want to lose any data while getting a faster restore process, a regular backup process must be done.
What we called as a backup strategy consists of backup, save process, verification, and restoration process. Let’s start from the first phase; you need to determine the method and which data you need to backup. You could backup specific crucial information which you should do regularly if you want to conserve the time. Sometimes you don’t have enough time to sort the data and you could choose all of them. The next phase will be the storage process. Here, you could choose what media you want to use and where you want to store them. This phase is very important because you have to make sure that they will be fine from any kind of threat.
Next, you have to verify that your backup process has succeeded. Feel certain that all data are usable before you go for the next step. Finally, you could restore those data again.
Generally, there are two common strategies for backup. You could choose the Archival plan or Disaster Recovery. The disaster recovery doesn’t sound nice, but it’s beneficial to take the system back to the previous working state. You have to backup the full system and place them at another machine. On the other hand, archival strategy means you could access the historical data. For the example, you want last year customer database, so it’s not about restoring a system.
However, there are several principles you could mention. First, you could combine both strategies for your purpose. Second, every strategy must be tested before you do it for your main system. If you want to test the Disaster Recovery strategy, you could try to restore the backup onto a clean machine so you will see whether it could work well or not. On the other hand, you could also test the archival strategy by simply retrieving files and then you could see whether you could find those files and read them without any problem when restored.
